| Prometrium and pregnancy
Hello! I need a quick reply if possible.
I have a hx of m/c and spotted slightly on Monday (I was 5wks exactly). My dr. is doing HCG levels and an U/S. He also prescribed Prometrium for me. I haven't taken it yet because I'm a little worried about the warning in my pill book that says it can cause birth defects if taken in the first four months of pregnancy. My doctor only wants me to take it for a week.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Why would he want me to take it for only a week? Should I be concerned about birth defects??
I'm having a hard time finding much info on the web that talks about it's use as a m/c prevention. My dr said it will help me build up a good lining. If I'm already beyond 5 weeks is it still going to help?
