hello its me again 1st time mommy worried like always about everything.. okay I am due Feb 12 the doctor says I am about 7 weeks or so I will be 9 weeks at my first appt. she said shes gonna do a u/s will there be a heart beat? I just want to be assured that my baby is healthy.. also the sex isnt determined untill like the 4th month or so right? or am I wrong? one last thing if I am preg with twins how early can you tell you are having them? thanks in advance for all your help...
If the doc does the ultrasound I think you may see a heartbeat, I didnt get my first ultrasound until 12 weeks and i saw the heartbeat, we didnt listen for it yet because it still may be too early. If you have the ultrasound it will make you feel a whole lot better I think. If you were pregnant with twins I think you gain weight faster sooner. but can't be sure until you see both of them in there. Also the sex isn't normally told until I think I was told 18-22 weeks so they can be sure. I am hoping to get the sex of my baby on my next visit but will only be 16 weeks. I have heard that in the beginning they all look like they have boy parts until the baby matures enough for it to grow inward for a girl. or out for a boy. I hope this helped a bit.
you will be able to hear the heartbeat and it is the most wonerful sound. if its twins you might know when you have your u/s the doc. would be able to hear two heart beats. good luck. let us know
If you get a sonogram at 9 weeks, they will be able to see the heartbeat. They will not be able to hear it until around 11 or 12.
If you are having twins, they will be able to see that with the sonogram.
Depends on your doctor when you find out the gender. They generally like to do a 20-week sonogram & can tell then (assuming the baby cooperates). I had an amnio at 17 weeks and they were able to tell the gender during the sonogram for that. Gender was confirmed when the amnio lab results came back. Natasha said what my doc explained to me...too early & they all look like boys.
Gayle-29 weeks
I got my u/s at 8 weeks and you could see the heart beating so fast. It was really cool to see it. That is when (more than likely) they would see if there were twins in there). I just had my 12 week appt. and we got to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. It was very reassuring! My Dr. said that they will do the u/s that determines the gender at 20 weeks. My friend found out at 16 weeks though, shes having a boy so they say they can determine boys sooner. I guess I will wait until 20 though.
Hope that helps!
Don't rely on early ultrasounds to find out if your having twins! I had several ultrasounds and didn't find out I was carrying twins until my 20 week ultrasound.
We never heard or saw two heartbeats either, until that 20 week ultrasound.
Best of luck to you!
