Question Somethine more serious maybe....

Since the beginning of my pregnancy Ive been haveing m/s. But I wonder if its something more. I can eat and Im hungry and I dont get queasy or sick thinking of food. Its just after I eat I can feel the food in my stomach or really in my esophagus. You know how food feels when its coming back up. And I just have to throw up. Ive tried eating foods in small portions, that didnt work. Ive cut out greasy foods and it still doesnt matter. Sometimes its immediatley and sometimes its hours after I eat. The Dr. put me on Reglan to help break down my food faster and move it through. But that doesnt really work. Do you think it could be something else besides m/s? Should I be concerned and push for more answers?

It sounds like GERD, commonly known as acid reflux. Has your doctor mentioned this as a possibility?

No, he hasnt. Should I mention it to him tomorrow when I go in? Is this something that can be treated? Can I take something for this during pregnancy?

Re: Somethine more serious maybe....

It sounds like acid reflux/heartburn. I had it pretty bad with both of my pregnancies. You can try taking Tums. If that doesn't help, my doctor recommends Zantac 75 up to 4 times a day supplemented with Tums as needed. If that still doesn't help, she recommends Prilosec OTC once a day for prevention. I started out on Tums for a few weeks, then the Zantac for a couple months and by the end, I was taking the Prilosec. This is different than morning sickness, which is feeling nauseous smelling, thinking about or tasting food.
