does anyone know if it is ok to drink flourinated water during pregnancy? should i just stick to regular distilled water, or could i drink flourinated water as well???
thanks...how about the flourinated water that you buy...u know from the water delivery man???? but yes, i do have a doctors appt on july 12, so i will ask him then.
Actually if you do some research fluoride in water does not prevent cavities, plus fluoride is actually toxic, so I'm really not sure why they even bother to put it in water.
This is actually starting to sound like an extremely funny debate that went on in my circle of friends. THe end result was one of the girls spending almost $10,000 on a water filtration system that would rival anything even the white house would have and the simple comment from another friend who's a doctor. His statement "If flouride is toxic poison, how come no one is sick?"
I'm going to gracefully bow out of this conversation now before I get in trouble with the mods.
IMHO, your fine. Drink tap water, drink bottled water, drink nursery water. It's all good!

I don't know where you did your research. I think if you spend enough time on the internet you will find research showing that vitamine C is toxic too... Like the person b/f me said, it's not a discussion I want to get into either, I spent 10yrs doing research in the area, so I know what will save me from huge dentist fees for my children. The only comment I wanted to add, was MODERATION. Fluoride is very good for the strength of your bones and teeth, just as are other vitamines. But as w/ vitamines, taking more than recommended amount will cause more damage then good. Doesn't mean you don't want to take vitamines, just follow the instructions. Oh, fluoride in water is most beneficial when our teeth are developing, so from fetus to about 12-15 yrs.
I work as a dental assistant and I asked my doctor, as I am about 4 weeks pregnant and he said that Is better to wait until the baby is born. That you want to moderate how much flouride your baby gets as to not to give your baby flourosis (white, yellow, or even gray spots on there teeth). When the baby is born you can have your ped. or dentist put your baby on flouride drops that you can put in there food or milk. Hope I helped.
thanks everyone for responding...tho some people's comments just threw me off. i was wondering because my husband purchased flourinated water...and i wanted to know if it was safe or not, so we can go back to just the regular distilled water. now that isn't a big problem.
but what really throws me off is that my ob/gyn prescribed to me flouride tabs when i was about 7 months pregnant with my first child???? so what's the difference with that and the little amounts of flouride that i may be drinking in the flourinated water my husband bought?
i really wanted to know because my daughter's dentist suggested that she always drinks flourinated water. so i thought it'd be ok for me to drink it. but after reading everyone's comment, i am going to just stick to distilled water.
