Question Stress and Pregnancy?

I know that stress is not good on anyone any time. But when your pregnant and in a stressful situation a lot what harm can it do to the baby if any? I know they always tell you that stress can cause your blood pressure to go up, but can it do any other damage to you or the baby during pregnancy? Im 25 weeks and right now going through a child support battle and battling with x- MIL.

Re: Stress and Pregnancy?

I am not sure what it can do to your unborn baby, but I know what stress can do to you and your body. I have been in VERY stressful situations, and I am doing everything I can to avoid these. I can see how if you are affected badly by stress, it could probably affect the baby as well since he/she is living soley based on you.

I would look at it like this, whatever your MIL is doing to you, she is doing the same thing to your baby and I would nip that in the butt quick.

Sorry to hear your so stressed. This should be a happy time!

Re: Stress and Pregnancy?

My thoughts on stress are the high blood pressure which you already mentioned...and is not good in pregnancy.

Stress brings on so many things that cause problems in all people:
poor diet choices
ulcers
headaches
poor sleep
moodiness
depression

Oh, you know...there are so many more. None of these symptoms/problems are specific to pregnancy...anyone can experience then, but they can sure take a toll on the pregnant woman more than non-pregnant women.

That's my understanding of stress and pregnancy.
