1stime mom question for those who've done this B4

I had a few questions for those of you who are already moms. I was wondering for the first few months how much diapers, wipes and formula (powder or liquid) you would go through in a weeks time.

There are some things that my new pediatrician said i could stock up on and i am trying to figure out my finances while i will be out of work for 2 months. I have been getting prices on different brands of diapers and formulas from different stores and i was wondering how much of these items i will need per week once the baby arrives.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

when you first come home with the baby they go through a lot of wipes and diapers. i would say a least 2 packs of diapers a week. they tend to go poop every time you feed them it seems. lots of wipes too. they don' spoil ,so you could start stocking up when you have coupons and there are sales before you have the baby. the newborn diapers they outgrow pretty fast so i wouldn't get too many packs, maybe a few. then size 1 they are in a little longer. if you can get some before your out on materninty leave it would help with the finances while your out. as far as formula the powder type last a little longer and is a little cheaper. i always made them up fresh as i needed them. you might go through a couple cans a week. i don't know if you have a WIC program around you but you might want to see if you qualify for it. you could ask your peds office. that would help alot with formula.

Re: 1stime mom question for those who've done this B4

Start stocking up on the diapers, but don't buy only newborn but some size 1 diapers. They grow so fast out of those newborn diapers. This is my 4th baby & I started stocking up when I found out I was pregnant cause I knew how much they go through. Also stock up on those wipes. You can never have enough. I tended to not just only use them for wiping the baby but wiping down other things too. I have always used liquid formula but my babies would go through so much & it gets pretty expensive. So I have decided this time to use the powder. It last longer & does not spoil as fast. I would make sure you are very prepared before you get home with the baby, so you don't have to worry with it afterwards. I am so prepared this time that I have already bought the baby tylenol & gas drops. I needed those right away when I got home with my other children. Use those coupons for diapers & wipes! Start stocking up!

Good luck!

well I have 4 kids and I agree with what everyones said already. If you dont qualify for wic dont stock up on formula becouse you never know what kind they will be able to take than youve wasted your money. once your babys here then look on ebay formula is tons cheaper on there.
