I think it depends where you are. Here in the UK they don't usually let you go more than two weeks past your EDD without offering induction.

As to the contractions question - sorry I don't know, I haven't got that far yet!

Re: 41 1/2 weeks

Hey Karlie,
I feel for you... my dd was 6 days late and that felt like forever!! Like Spanish said here in the UK they let you go till 42 weeks before induction. As for the contractions I was in slow labour for a few days before I had Gabby so I would get contractions ranging from 5-10mins apart to 30mins then an hour later lol. But I deff knew when I was in actuall Labour because the contractions were ALOT more painfull! Good luck hun hope your precious baby comes soon

Re: 41 1/2 weeks

My doctor told me he would intervene if the baby was a week overdue. Most people I talk to say they would have had to wait 2 weeks if the baby didn't come on it's own. I'm in the US.

I know they don't want to wait too long because the placenta gets old & not effective at sustaining the baby after some point. Not sure exactly what that point is...but sounds like 2 weeks is standard from everything I've read & heard.

Have you asked your doctor what the game plan is for getting the baby out? What does he/she say?

Re: 41 1/2 weeks

42 weeks seems to be the standard on how lone docs let you go. Definitley call and may "remind" your doctor that YOU are ready any day now. As for contractions...the timing can vary. They could be hours or minutes apart. If you are having them, try being a little more active (take a walk or something) to encourage them to "hurry up"!

I wish you lots of luck...doesn't sound like your having much of a picnic right now.
