I know it's not good to sleep on your back while preg. but I was just wondering...the ONLY way I can sleep is while im laying in a recliner with my feet up and the back down..it doesnt go flat or anything but I was just wondering if this is bad too or if just laying flat on your back is what there worried about ?
You will be fine. And your body won't let you lay in a way that is bad. It will become more and more uncomfortable to lay flat on your back as the baby gets larger. I know the last month of my first pregnancy the only way I could sleep was in the recliner. You will be fine, don't worry.

My doctor actually recommended I get a recliner for all of my aches and pains. He said you can rent them. (Where I don't know) I never did but my Mom said when she had my middle sister she bought a recliner and it worked wonders.

I feel asleep in my grandmother's recliner last week, and it felt sooooo nice. It has to be a much better position than the chair that I sit in by my computer all day long at home (Time to convince the ole' husband to get me an ergonomic!). I fell asleep just like a baby! I hope they're okay to sit in. I have read that your body wakes you up if you fall asleep in a bad position. I think that your circulation can become cut off if you lie flat on your back, but our bodies are so miracuous....we have all of these warning signals hardcoated in!!
I'm in Week 34 (Week 35 tomorrow!!!!) and I still sleep on my back. My doctor expained it's really okay to sleep however is comfortable, unless you are specifically told to stay on your left side. I've done the recliner many nights over the last 15 weeks.
I'm only 21 weeks and I can tell you when I can't get to sleep that is the only place I can sleep. My husband and I bought some really cool outdoor recliners for our porch but it is too hot in NC right now to sit in them so I had him put one upstairs for me. The day after he fell asleep in the chair and the next day he had his upstairs too! The chairs were only $130 and you can put the feet all the way up, I use the head rest (it comes off) at my back and will be out cold in no time!
i know what you mean lol i absolutely LOVE sleeping in the recliner..and i agree its WAY WAY to hot in NC right now lol where are you from in NC? Im in pasqutank (sp?) county about 40 miles south of VA beach!!!
another thing that helps me sleep for some reason is having a fan blowing on the bottom of my feet only?!?!?? lol but I was just making sure it wouldnt harm my baby!
thank you guys soo so much for all your help and advice so far!
good luck to all!!!!!!
I forgot to post this above...I have actually slept in my car a couple times (on my back in the front seat) because the lumbar support in there is far superior than our recliners. I have a bulging disk and sciatica at the same time. I can't sleep in my car very often because it's summer and VERY hot in the garage...if it was cooler, I'd do it more often.
