coffee and tea

I have a love for my green tea and my cup of fresh brewed morning coffee. I know that some herbs are dangerous while pregnant so I have given up all of the teas that I drink that contain any types of those things but what I was wondering is 1 cup of coffee and two cups of green tea a day too much?

Re: coffee and tea

You are supposed to keep it under 300 MG of caffine a day. I drank a ton of Green tea before I got pregnant, and still do BUT I switched ot decaff to be safe. I also switched to decaff coffee as well. Better safe then sorry, but my DR did tell me in moderation it is ok.

Re: coffee and tea

I keep my caffine to around 100mg. Excessive amounts has been linked to learning disabilities, which isn't a risk I'm willing to take.

I have my one regular cup in the morning, then everything after that is decaf - tea, coffee and soda.

Re: coffee and tea

I will change my morning coffe to decaf, I am drinking decaf green tea, might as well give it up better to be safe than sorry, oh by the way North of 60 is that named after the tv show, if so I use to love that one so much and I have not been able to see it here in my neck of the woods, (sorry to get off topic). I do like to have a bit of extra dark chocolate now and again I don't know just how many mgs are in that but it might be a hard one to give up.

Re: coffee and tea

Dark chocolate has more caffine then milk chocolate, but if memory serves me correctly, it's only about 30mg for a couple of ounces (like for a chocolate bar).

And yes, I'm named after the TV show. I don't live north of 60th paralel, only the 45th (proud Canadian), but I love love love the show.

Re: coffee and tea

I am a fellow lover of morning coffee. My doc said it is fine, along with my one can of diet soda i have a day. She said no more than 3 caffinated beverages a day. I think what you are drinking will be fine.

Re: coffee and tea

I am a fellow Canadian as well, North of 60 but am now living in the US, miss home very much. Thanks for the info on the dark chocolate a little piece now and again won't hurt it's the morning coffee that is going to get me.
