No energy at all - 18wks

I'm 18 wks and I am completely fatigued. My body has no energy what so ever. I can barely walk around my apt, let alone have any energy or desire to do anything. Its just getting worse and worse this week. Absolutely no energy at all. I didn't think its suppose to be like this in the 2nd trimester.

have you been to your doctor to test for an iron deficiency or something else common in pregnancy that will make you feel so drained? check with your dr. and they can help you find a solution from there.

No, this is supposed to be the "honeymoon" period of the pregnancy. I did have less energy than normal and felt like a dud most days, but not like you are describing. Your iron count and/or blood pressure could be low right now. Call your doc and see what he/she thinks.

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

I emailed my midwife. I could page her, but if its not something thats super important and needs an answer RIGHT now then I try to jus email her.

I'm doing a little better than I was earlier today...but still, overall, I am very tired most of the time.

Thanks for your replies!

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

I am 16 weeks and I read at this time we are going to really begin to grow more rapidly. Perhaps that is the source of the tiredness, even though they say the second trimester is suppose to be the best. If you body is working hard for the baby to start growing more, it makes sense to me.

I have thought of that as well. Last week the baby was suppose to be gorwing an inch and a half. Well maybe my baby is goign through that growth spurt just a bit later which could be why my energy is so drained.

Have you tried to eat more fruits & veggies, lean meats cheeses & milk. Stay away from breads, waffles, pancakes, chips, crackers, pastas. This helped me go from miserable lazy to GREAT!! Im really carb sensitive anything that isnt a good carb is like putting me into coma mode! T

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

I never got to enjoy the "honeymoon" phase of pregnancy I started getting tired around 13 weeks and it hasn't let up since (i'm 30 weeks now). There are days when I'm as tired as you describe and other days that are a little better. During the 2nd trimester I would mostly be tired, but then have like a glorious day of energy only to be COMPLETLEY wiped out the next day. It got to be clock-work... if I woke up feeling good & ready to go, I knew I was in for it the next day and sure enough... my butt would litterally be dragging ont he floor. I remember crying at work I was so tired. I'm still really tired, but I've kind of gotten used to it
Good luck!!

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

i was a mess in the first trimester but at 19 weeks i feel more like my old self. there are some days i am a wreck but not very often maybe once a week now. perhaps get your bloods checked just to make sure you don't have any deficiencies

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

I am at almost 17 wks and my doctor told me last week this is the honeymoon phase of the pregnancy... Sure enough, I feel almost like normal except for being pregnant. Not quite as much energy as before pregnancy but almost. I give out easily though. Not into staying up late at night either and before I was a night owl. I just know that first trimester, I could've have stayed in the bed 24/7. Now I feel rested when I get a good night's sleep and ready for the day. I still have nights though when I just never sleep good and the next night I might sleep fine. That is more a comfort thing though. I would be more concerned about my iron levels or something else if you are that tired, or it just may be your body's way of dealing with your pregnancy. We are all so different.

Re: No energy at all - 18wks

I am at 18 weeks also and have way more energy than I did in my second trimester. but every pregnancy, and every person is different. So no energy in 18 weeks might be normal for you, but you should talk to your doctor just in case.
