Hello,

please can someone advise, my girlfriend has recently become pregnant, although how far into the term is yet to be determined by the mid-wife we'll be seeing this week. My question is this, she currently works in a herbal shop that provides herbal remedies for medicinal purposes. We have been told by several people that certain herbs and the aroma of oils etc can lead to miscarriage.

Can anyone confirm whether this is in fact true ?

Unless she is internally injesting the herbs I doubt there is anything to worry about. There are very powerful herbs out there and I'm sure they can affect a fetus, but I would not worry about it unless she is taking the herbs. I don't think the aroma will hurt anything, but if you are really worried, I would DEFINATELY check w/ a doctor... he could tell you for sure one way or the other

Thank you for the prompt reply and sound advice. You've put my mind at ease for now. We're visiting the mid-wife this Wednesday and I will ask the doctor then whether there are any known implications.
