gas...

Is an excess amount of gas, bloating, and mild heartburn a sign of pregnancy on its own? I feel like ive gained weight too, but this could just be the bloating...I have had this alot in the past month or so, and I cant help but wonder...

Re: gas...

is it likely that this would be the ONLY sign? or could this be caused from something else??

Re: gas...

It is one of many signs. There also could be other things causing it. how long has it been going on for?

Re: gas...

probably about a month...maybe a little longer...i was scared i was pregnant about 2 or 3 months ago and then i dismissed it because I was having regular periods...but now the past month or so i've had this going on and im scared that maybe i AM pregnant but still getting normal periods...If I was pregnant i'd be about 14? weeks or so...Hopefully that isnt the cause of it though, because im not ready for that it all...what do you think?

Re: gas...

Have you been to the doctor at all for this? It could be irritable bowel syndrome or lactose intolerance too. Do you notice this after eating? I would say that if you are still getting your monthly cycle then you probably are not pregnant but everyone is different. Since this has been going on for awhile, i would say make an appointmen and get checked by your doctor. You can rule out pregnancy and any other helath issues that way.

Re: gas...

I haven't been to the doctor, I feel silly going to the doctor for gas! But then I read on here that its increased during pregnancy so now im going to have to do something, just to ease my mind at least...It doesnt just occur when I eat, i honestly dont eat that much at each meal, and the gas is kinda always there, not just when I eat....so i'm not sure what that means...4 normal periods was an indication that i was safe...i thought...

Re: gas...

Gas, bloating, heartburn are all signs of gastrointestinal issues. May not be related to being pregnant. It is a symptom, but not necessarily the reason for it all.

First I'd check with your doctor and get a blood test to rule out pregnancy. Then, if it's negative, see a gastrointerologist.

Re: gas...

This is the first time that I've read someone thinking they're pregnant because of gas! Don't feel silly about seeing a doctor about gas issues, I know that is easy for me to say. I would take qt314's advice.

Re: gas...

It could be a food allergy, or IBS. I've got IBS and if I don't behave I get terrible gas and bloating. The heartburn might be related or maybe just from worrying about a pregnancy. I agree with the other posters--go see a doctor. Mine told me any change in digestive habits that persists or comes and goes for more than 2 weeks needs to be checked out by a doctor. If he has reason to believe you might be pregnant (I doubt it after 4 normal periods) then he/she will do a blood or urine test.
