Question Lots of contractions - 32 weeks

Tomorrow I will be 32 weeks and I have noticed that my BHCs have picked up substantially. And they are painful unlike the BHCs I was having early on. Those were just uncomfortable. Am I being a worry wort?

Re: Lots of contractions - 32 weeks

Hi -

If the contractions are painful, call your doctor. Also time them to see if there's any regularity to them. Your doctor needs to know the contractions hurt even if they're irregular. Your doctor cannot take good care of you and your baby if you don't tell him or her what's going on.

I had a 26 week preemie because I dismissed the contractions as Braxton Hicks when they were real.

Wishing you well - Barbara

Re: Lots of contractions - 32 weeks

I just left a message, I'll let you know what he says. Since I wrote the post I've had one more contraction that was pretty darn painful, but now nothing else. It seems that they are very irregular but it feels right to call anyway. Thanks for your advice Barbara.

Do you want to share more of your story?

Hey I just delivered 2wks ago @ 35 wks. My contractions began to hurt and were regular at 33wks. My Dr put me on Terbutline to stop them but after 2wks of taking the pills they no longer hellped. Definitly call Dr.

Re: Lots of contractions - 32 weeks

My doctor told me not to panic unless they are consistenly 5 minutes apart for an hour. I actually have only had one today so far. I think I may have just overworked myself on Monday and I was paying the price yesterday.

Thank you everyone!

Re: Lots of contractions - 32 weeks

Hi Mommie -

My 26 week preemie weighed 2lb 3 1/2oz when he was born 21+ years ago. I'd had the 2 BetaMethazone injections to mature his lungs 3 days before he was born, so he could breathe on his own from the start. He was never intubated either. He was in NICU for 10 weeks until he was big enough to come home. He does have a mild form of cerebral palsy which was found when he was about 18 months old.

All these years later, he speaks German fluently, is learning Chinese, is in college, builds computers, and has a wicked sense of humor. He's a joy!

If you read many of the posts here, you'll see that my most common message is tell your doctor, call your doctor, go see your doctor. I am eternally grateful that I wasn't too late when I did call my doctor!

Wishing you well - Barbara
