scared

I am scared, I went to my ob apt yesterday and we talked about my low potassium and chest pain and she said she wants me to see a cardiologist. even though my ekg was normal just to be safe. I am a little freaked out. I have to go through my general doc to get a referal. I go tomorrow for my afp test and to check my potasium. I also know that dec 1st is the day of my 21 week ultrasound to see what the baby is and to check for abnormalities! I am so excited, baby seems well, heartbeat good and is active. I don't know if I can wait 28 days! it is like christmas!
I would appreciate any advice, I am scared.
Carly

Re: scared

Better to be safe than sorry I guess!! If your test came back normal than there is probably nothing to worry about. Being pregnant can cause major changes and trauma to the mama's body...hopefully that's all this is!
Focus on Dec 1st! Is this your first? Are you hoping for a girl or a boy??

Re: scared

I feel your pain worrywort. I have to go to a cardiologist Monday because my heart rate keeps going up too high. I will be having an EKG and then have to wear a heart monitor for a day to see what is going on. I will keep you in my thoughts, please keep me in yours. Hopefully all is well with us both.

Keep me posted on how your appointment goes.

Re: scared

Worrywort-- I feel as if I am spaced out constantly. I am stressed out all the time and I have yet to find a way to get around the stress.

What is an EKG? I have to go on the 11th for an echocardiogram (sp?). My ob referred me to a pulmonary specialist b/c of shortness of breath (they say its too soon at 9 weeks to have such a problem with it). The specialist says that it sounds like I have a weak heart. Of course, that is just stressing me out even more. I have never had a doctor tell me that. I am hoping that it is just a fluke. It's hard to keep thinking positive when all you hear is negative.

I hope all of you are doing well.

Re: scared

Well if a cardiologist looked at your EKG and said there was nothing abnormal then I wouldn't worry about it. Actually don't worry about it either way, its not worth the stress. I found out I have a heart problem at 14 weeks pregnant. But it had nothing to do with pregnancy and I had previous symptoms. My pregnancy just agrivated my condition. If you have had no symtoms previously to pregnancy then all should be well. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy.

Re: scared

hi all! thanks for your reply's. My doc actually refered me to a cardiologist! They have to call me though!!! I went today and had my afp test and my potassium checked, hope all is good! I also went to my psych who wants me to take lexapro again. I know I have anxiety but I think this chest pain is aggravating it to extreme! I also get arm pain( most likely because I sleep on it all of the time) I have had previous ekg's. the doc just told me it isn't always acurate because it just test the first 500 beats.
may/june...an ekg is like ecg (echo)I believe, checks for abnormalities, takes like 5 min. I had shortness of breath that early as well. I will pray for us both. it is hard to stay positive I know, we just have to hang in there!
waiting4baby...I have heard of pregnancy agravating a condition before but I don't think I have an underlying condition but who knows, I got checked out a while back in 1999 when I was admitted to the hospital for drugs, I checked out o.k.(yes I am 6 years clean) I will try and not worry, I really want to enjoy my pregnancy.
Weepy... I wish I could see your beautiful little one when he or she arrives!!! I would keep the sex a mystery then, have it a surprise!!!! You take care too!

Re: scared

I went to my cardiologist today. No news really, they did an EKG (electrocardiogram) sp?, set up and appointment for and echo, and put this heartmonitor on me that I have to wear for 2 weeks. Plus I have to go to my OB and have blood drawn. When all this is done, I will go back and get the results.

Hope eveyone is doing ok. Keep me posted.

Re: scared

I have yet to hear from my cardio yet, I called today and I should hear back from them tomorrow to make an apt. I really hope things turn out o.k! I am sure they will. Wow you have to have a monitor for two weeks, I have heard of a holter monitor for 24 hours. I will keep you posted and you do the same, Carly

Re: scared

Hey Worry,

The only symptoms that I have had are just a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizzy, and blurred vision. The Doc. wouldn't really tell me anything, I guess he wants to see what the tests show before he says anything.

Let me know what you find.
