Sex of baby

I sure this question has come up but could not find one when I searched. for all the moms who did find out the sex of the baby how far along were you? I will be 17wks4days when I get mine is it to early to tell? I just really am impatient and really want to know. I have managed not to buy anything yet and would really like to start. Im just so frustrated!!!!!

Re: Sex of baby

I'm currently only 7 weeks myself, but with my first baby, I was just 17 weeks when we had the ultrasound and we were able to see the sex. So, you should be A-okay to find out the sex, as long as the baby is cooperating and in a good view for the camera....

Good Luck!!!

Re: Sex of baby

You can see the sex at 16 weeks. However, most doctors like to wait until 18-20 weeks. You should be able to see the sex unless you have a shy little one who hides it from you.

Re: Sex of baby

16-20 weeks is when they can tell...like BlueEyedGirl said, most medical professionals like to wait for 18-20 weeks for the ultrasound.

I have mine a week from tomorrow and I will be 19 weeks 2 days at that time. I am soooooo looking forward to it, as I have yet to buy anything either! Not even a little bib, or sock......

Re: Sex of baby

Where I am, they cannot legally tell you until after 20 weeks. The reason is that late term SELECTIVE abortions are done until 20 weeks, and certain ethnic groups abused the system an aborted baby's whose sex was not of a liking to them. So the rest of us get the short end of the stick and are forced to wait. Even then, the final decision is up to the US technician or your doctor. If there is reason to suspect that you may not want the pregnancy, they just won't tell you.

I go for my ultrasound tomorrow, and incidently I'll BE 20 weeks tomorrow. I have all my bribes linded up in order to find out the sex. If all else fails, the pregnant lady water works will come on.

Re: Sex of baby

my u/s tech had me wait untill week 22 if I wanted a 100% finding having something to do with the timing of the testicals dropping for a boy. I could have gone in at 20 weeks and stood a pretty decent shot but I had done that with the two previous children and they kept there secret hidden. This time exactly 22 weeks to the day she found it immediately 100% baby girl and even gave me an excellent picture of her private area.. I will be sure to hold on to this to embarass her later with her first naked picture. LOL

Re: Sex of baby

I got my first ultra sound last week and I was 20 weeks at the time. Most drs like to do it between 18-20 weeks. My son had no problem showing off his goods. The technical had been looking for a couple seconds and said "Oh I can already tell you what you are having, not doubt!". For sure his pee pee and two little friends were making an apperance. I even got a picture of it on which she put "Its a boy!!!"
