Heart rate too high?

Hey there!! I am 12 weeks pregnant and i had an ultrasound at 10 weeks and they didnt tell me at the appointment, but i was looking at the paper from it in my doctors office and it said that the heart rate was 176 beats per min. That seems kinda high to me. the doc. didnt say anything about it but is that too high?? If not, i heard that girls heart rates are faster than boys, but i always though it was the other way around!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Heart rate too high?

i think earlier on in pg the heartbeat is higher. i guess if the doc is not worried then you don't need to be you could always call up the doc and run your concerns past him thats what he gets paid for. i have never been told the hb so i guess it is one less thing for me to worry over lol. i am sure is well but like i say talking to the doc may make you feel at ease

Re: Heart rate too high?

I heard the heartbeat is higher for a girl. Mine was really high at 11 weeks and my doctor guessed girl twice, and then at my next 3 u/s I was told it was a girl. It could be an old wives tale, but ya never know. We only have a 50 percent chance of being right!

Re: Heart rate too high?

That heartrate is pretty normal, as your pregnancy starts to progress it will slow down. Our little boy was in the 170 range until around 14-15 weeks and now he is stays around 140-150.

Re: Heart rate too high?

My fiend had a healthy baby girl in MArch and her daughters was 177 @ her first u/s. Mine @ 8weeks was 162bpm and 157bpm @11.5 weeks. No worries. I have read women that have said there baby was in the 170's and there was no worries or concerns from the doc. If there was a problem they would tell ya. Relax and enjoy the pregnancy and at your next appointment bring it up to the doc and ask what the normal range is. Hope this helps--Rach

Re: Heart rate too high?

From everything my friends and I have experienced...A)-if the doctor doesn't say anything it is not a big deal. B)-I've only heard of too low heartbeats being a problem not too high. C)-I agree that it's probably a girl! You'll have to keep us updated.

Re: Heart rate too high?

My baby's heart rate was up in the 170's when I first found out I was pregnant and shes a little girl and I have found truth in the heartbeat being faster for a girl than it is for a boy, my mom had three boys then me and all there heartbeats were lower than mine and my SIL had the same thing so I dont know if its a wives tale or if its true but it usually works out that way.. But now that Im 6 months pregnant her heart beat has slowed down a little so maybe the bigger the baby gets the slower it gets..

I'm having a boy and at the first U/S his heartbeat was 176.. Now it's always 150-155.

Re: Heart rate too high?

My doctor told me a fast heart rate usually indicates a girl, however I had a boy.

Re: Heart rate too high?

At my last u/s it was 130 and the doc thinks I am having a girl. Might be a bit too early since it's 14 weels and 6 days. But he didn't see the extra part. lol

I did get a reading at 170 early on though.
