How soon after a c-section can you expect to have your first mentral cycle start up again? I know there is a period of time when you are "bleeding" after the birth etc.
But when should you "expect" to have your first period begin... ish....?
I think I had my CS I was bleeding for about a wk. Then about a month or lil more I had my period. I also hear if you breastfeed it will be much longer.

Wow. My experience was a lot different than you three and most of my friends had experiences more like mine. It's great to read about these ranges. I bled for 5 weeks after my c-section. I nursed for 8 months and didn't get my period until two months after I stopped nursing--which was an excellent side benefit--unless you're trying to get pregnant again I suppose.
i bled for about 5 weeks after (heavy period like for 1.5 weeks then spotting for the rest) cs and then i had my period about 2 months after that - i did not breast feed. but i had relatively easy periods

I stopped bleeding about 8 days pp. I have a little light spotting still, but nothing heavy. I don't know when to expect my period, but my DR says that I may not get it until I stop BFing.
An added benefit to breastfeeding. I bled for 5 weeks, but it was so light you could barely tell. It was still blood so I count it. I haven't asked my doc about the period since I breastfeed. I will ask on Wed to find out. Me and DH don't want to have a baby so soon after ds so with no period I don't have to worry about BCP. You can't get pregnant without your period, right? Stupid question, I know.
You TOTALLY can get pregnant without your period.(It's just not ideal if you are actually trying) If you do not want to get pregnant there is a birth control pill that you can take while you're nursing. My doctor did not tell me this right away and I was very ****** that I discovered this from my friends a few months into breastfeeding with no birth control. Talk to your doctor about a prescription the next time you go in. Even being on that pill I did not get my period until after I stopped breastfeeding.
