After trying for over a year, and a diagnosis of PCOS and a couple of fertility drugs, I'm finally on this board. I took a hpt yesterday and got a faint positive and retested this morning and it was definitely positive. I'm anxious, nervous, in shock, happy, scared, excited all in one big ball. I've calculated that I'll be due around September 16th. Can anyone tell me what to expect during my first dr. appt?
Congrats on the BFP! At the first appointment they will check your weight, height, blood pressure, get a urine sample and get your health information down (family health history). You will get a pap smear and they will also take your blood for different test required by law (HIV and such). Um..mines was so long ago I can't remember what else lol. Since I'm over weight the dr had me to a sugar test to make sure I wasn't diabetic ..which bothered me bc apperantly if you are fat they think you have it instantly! Err..guess what passed both 8 week test and 28 week. Kiss my booty lol. Um..if you go around 12 weeks (some drs won't see you until then) they will listen for the heartbeat too. I think that it's! Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck and CONGRATS!!
at my first docs appt it was just a confirmation appt for me. a vaginal ultrasound was done and then an appt was made for me to come back and do all the other detailed stuff.
it seems to be a little diff everywhere.
I remember you from the TTC board! Congrats! I am currently 31 weeks pregnant.
My first appoitment was everything from weight to bloodwork to vaginal ultrasound, which was weird. We got to see the baby and the faint heartbeating. We were 7 weeks pregnant when we had our first appointment.
congrats Renee!!!! Are you the Renee that was on the infertility board? you would correspond with VHILL? If so, I am so glad to see you've made it here! If not, I'm still glad to made it here
Yep, it's me from the infertility and ttc boards. I'm so excited and glad to be joining all of you. My hubby has to be selective in which drs. appts. he goes to with me. Do you think the first one is an important one for him to go to or should he wait and go to the next one?
My hubby has to be selectives as well, and he missed the first couple, but was with me for the first U/S. So, I would say if he must wait, he may want to save it for the first u/s or the first time you hear the heartbeat. Again, Happy to see you've made it to this board and congratulations
