first time mom question

This may be a stupid question but I will ask anyway. I am cyrrently 33 weeks pregnant with twins and the doctor told me that if I can make it three more weeks it would be o.k. to deliver, but if I could hold out longer it would be better. Anyway my question is, how do I know when I am going into labor?Does your water break first and if so is it a gush or a trickle? Or do you start having contractions first? I plan on asking my doctor when I go in, but my next appt. is not until Friday.

Re: first time mom question

I am also a first time mom but I do know that they say usually when or if your water breaks when you are at home or out and about, it is usually a trickle rather than the gush you see in television shows and movies.

Re: first time mom question

You can start having contractions before your water breaks...that was my case.

If you are laying down, you could feel a gush....again that was my case...I was laying down...already in the hospital bed, and it came gushing out.

If your standing it will be a trickle, as the babies head acts as a cork.

Everyone told me "when your in labor, you'll know it" And they were right!
When your time comes.....you'll know! Good Luck!
