Checking the babies lung development?

Where I have diabities the baby is growing up a storm I am 34 weeks and she weights between 5 to 6lbs My Dr said somthing about that if she got to big early he would check her lung development and if it was good he would put me into labor. What i want to know is how do they check lung development? and when would he check it?

You are right. That is how they check for lung development.

Re: Checking the babies lung development?

Very good question! I had pre-term bleeding at 27 weeks with my second child and they gave me two shots in the butt to help develop the baby's lungs as a precaution should he need to be delivered early. The only thing they did prior to that was an ultrasound???

Re: Checking the babies lung development?

You are correct they do, do an amnio. My doc is actually thinking of doing that for me because my son is growing so fast and has purely run out of room, I"m hopin to find out tomorrow what she plans to do. But that is the only way now that I know of them checking the lung development.
