Re: cramping at 33 weeks

It sounds pretty normal. I've been getting dull menstrual-like cramps since about weeks 32-33. They're pretty random and I get them maybe 2 or 3 times during the day. The doctor said that as long as they don't get close enough that I can time them (like when you time labor contractions), that it's nothing to worry about. I tend to get them if I've been standing for too long. Sometimes just sitting down for a bit and drinking a glass of water helps.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

This is about the time we have a nice growth spurt. DO you remember having them when you got pregnant or other times during your pregnancy. I get them off and on and within a few weeks I have another few inches added to my belly. With my first child I had them off and on everyday from about 33 weeks on. Now I started about 30 weeks. I also get them if im having issues using the bathroom if you know what I mean I just try and get some fiber in me to help.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

I had menstrual type cramping with increased discharge (mucous/thin, not the plug) and loose stools. I mentioned it to my doc who told me that if I couldn't time it, not to worry about it. I had a scheduled u/s with a consulted MD the next day and they found me to be in preterm labor. If you have the signs, I would tell your doctor. It may be nothing, but then again, it may be something.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

At 34 wks I was having contractions. Menstrual type cramping might be contractions. I went into labor and delivery and met my midwife there. For me it was because I wasn't hydrated enough. The uterus is VERY sensitive to dehydration and starts contracting when you haven't had enough fluids. And you don't have to be very dehydrated to for the uterus to start contracting. So if they are so close that you can time them try drinking 16oz or more of water within 20 minutes and see if that lessens them. That's what I do now when they come on. But I try to keep them at bay by drinking enough water. Dehydration can eventually cause preterm labor if you're not careful.

Good luck ladies! But when in doubt, call your Dr! Especially if you can time them or it hurts really badly!

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

I went to the doc yesterday and asked about the cramps, she said could be contractions. in my case it isn't I don't think because sometimes they are on one side, stretching is also a cause she said and dehydration. I also got checked and my cervix is still thick and up a way's. where are your cramps located?

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

My cramps are down low like menstrual cramps I went to the doctor on Friday and she said it could be the cervix sofetening so I guess we wait and see they said if I would go into labor now they wouldnt stop it anyway so I shouldnt worry so much..

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

They wouldn't stop labor at 33 weeks? That's a bit early.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

I agree...that is a bit early. If a bbaby is born at 34 weeks it does have a good chance of being as successful as a full term baby, but they stil don't usually want you giving labor until 37 wks.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

the baby would be fine though I would want to keep my little one in as long as possible so I can bring her home with me. I cramp along the sides, groin area, my cervix has not thinned yet and is still up so Cramping can mean lots of different things I guess.

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

I get the menstrual-like cramping on and off too, I'm 33 weeks. I also get the ligament stretching pain at the sides too on certain days. They last most of the day and are gone the next. It's a bit nerve racking when you don't know whether it's just growth associated cramps or the real thing. Sometimes they make me feel like having a good cry!

Re: cramping at 33 weeks

I agree I wouldnt want my little one coming out until Im sure she would be healthy enough to come home with me but I guess it depends on your doctors deceision and how they feel about the situation, I think I have a couple more weeks left anyway the cramping mostly comes at night so I think its more the body preparing itself for the adventure its about to have, and she has to stay in a couple more weeks anyway because I dont have the things ready I should yet...
