| Re: what is a mucas plug?
A mucus plug is a build up of mucus that literally plugs the cervix shut. This is to prevent any bacteria from getting into your uterus and possibly causing infection in your uterus or baby. It is a very good thing to have and as far as I know it you do have one now. It gets bigger and thicker as the pregnancy progresses which is why when you start to dialate it starts to loosen and fall out and is almost unmistakenable! Hope this helps a little.
