rotavirus while pregnant

Does anyone know anything about contracting rotavirus and if it is harmful to the fetus? My son had it less than 2 weeks ago and now I am having the same "issues." I know that it is rare for an adult to get symptoms but I can't find any info on pregnancy.

Re: rotavirus while pregnant

Is that what causes hand-foot-and mouth disease? If so, I was wondering the same thing. I had a mom at my shower last week whose son had just gotten over this and now I have sores on the roof of my mouth....But I too couldn't find anything about it really being harmful during pg. Everything I read pretty much said that it just went away on its own and never really did any damage to kids who get it....Sorry I can't help any more. I hope this is what you are talking about....if not, then just ignore me

Re: rotavirus while pregnant

My son had this virus as well and gave it to me. I was about 28 weeks at the time. The doctor just told me to take it easy and drink extra fluids. I don't think it affects the baby in any way.

Re: rotavirus while pregnant

It doesn't affect the baby. But your dehydration does!! So as soon as you are able to hold down liquids pound the water like crazy. I'm talking 16 ounces an hour. I caught this from my toddler and at my next OB appt. they found that my amniotic fluid level was really low and I was put on bedrest. I have a predisposition to AF issues, but dehydration can do this so just drink lots of water!!
