Safest time for elective c-section?????

hi, i was wondering does anyone know of the safest time that an elective c-section can be carried out. i'm 36 weeks and have elected myself for this procedure due to the fact that i failed to progress during my last pregnancy 6 years ago which caused me great distress. the hospital has given me a date in 4 weeks time, which i feel is delaying the inevitable as i'll be 40 weeks pregnant by then.

if anyone has any info at all i would be so greatful, as i am going to see the consultant next week to hopefully get the date brought forward.

Re: Safest time for elective c-section?????

Here in the states they will not do a elective induction before 38 weeks unless there are major health reasons. I would assume it would be the same for a Csection. My mom did a elective with my brother at 38 1/2 weeks and my friend did one at 38 so I would see if they could do it then.

Re: Safest time for elective c-section?????

hi jamie
i am from england and had a c section at 36 weeks 5 days but it was an urgent one for medical reasons ds was almost 7 pound born. i guess maybe the docs would want to know the size of your baby in doing an early elective delivery. my sil had an elective in january for the same reason as your self and it was done 3 days before her edd. hope this helps

I'm having a planned C-section as well, but my doctors scheduled mine for 1 week before my due date, no sooner.
