Does anyone know if Wal-mart brand vitamins are bad? I was taking them for 2 months prior to getting a BFP then continued to take them cause the ones from the doctor made me sick.

I am worried because I heard they are not good to take by my friends doctor.Too much vitamin A.I have soooo many worries now a new one !!! please help!

I hope not...it's what I've been taking the whole time and I am 32 weeks. My midwife was not concerned...happy that I'd found an alternative to the expensive ones. I compared them to materna and they are almost the same.
As for worries...relax...before there became all this info about what not to do during pregnancy and women drank, smoked, worked with chemicals, didn't take vitamins etc. babies (like all of us) turned out just fine. Just live your life in moderation and enjoy the next 7 months!!!

Just a little thought...I told my midwife that I was taking those before they gave me a prescription. She never said anything about it. Never told me not to take them or anything along that line. If the ones they gave you make you sick then you can take 2 flinstone vitamines a day and that is ok. Im 17 weeks and still are taking flinstones.

I compared the Walmart brand ones to Materna and the only difference was the Walmart ones had a lot more iron. Everything else was exactly the same. I did however switch to Materna because I had heard iron can cause constipation, which I had been having problems with. Seems to have helped but who knows, it might not be because I switched brands.

I've been using generic pre-natals the whole time (I'm 36 weeks). I bought mine at Sam's Club. My OB wanted to make sure they had a specific level of folic acid and that's it.

I use the Walmart brand as well, and my doctor said that was just fine. They are just as comparable to any others out there.
