I am 16 weeks with my second pregnancy. I was sure I was feeling movement starting around week 14 it lasted almost 2 weeks and was consistant little taps and bubbles espec. after eating. Then it basically stopped. I have felt an ocaisonal tap or flutter but nothing like at first. I did loose my first baby to stillbirth so I know I am always going to be nervous.
My question is: Is it normal to feel movement and then not at this early on? What are everyones elses experience with early movement? I know I didn't start feeling my last one until around 20 weeks. So maybe what I am feeling wasn't actually movement after all?
It is completely normal to feel fetal movement early on with your second. I felt my beanie around 12 or 13 wks for the first time but then I would notice several days go by before I would feel him again! I knew not to be too worried though because I went through the same thing with ds. I was about 20 wks and hadn't felt a think all day. I was freaking out and ended up leaving work and going to the Doctors. He checked the baby with the doppler and everything was fine! He was moving all over the place but I just didn't feel it!
My Doc said you will feel the really active phases and large kicks if there are any at all but that baby is constantly moving and you can't feel those until the baby is much larger. This was true for both my pregnancies.
If you are really concerned, like I was, maybe consider renting a doppler so you can listen in on baby whenever you want! In the meantime, don't hesitate to call your Doctor! That's what they are there for!
i had the same thing (with twins) my second pregnancy started feeling things at about 14-16 weeks and then nothing until about 22-23 weeks. the dr said it could be the way the babies where laying the way gas build up could have effected it... could be anything. I got a doppler for home to ease my mind.
4 Kids in 2 1/2 years...
ready to put my body back together!
I believe I felt my little one the passed few days but the feeling is so gentle. It's not consistent movement either which doesn't alarm me right now b/c it's still early. This is my 2nd healthy preg. I didn't recall feeling any movement w/ my first until 20+ weeks.
Yep me too. With ds I felt nothing at all till 18 weeks and then constant. This one I felt movement as early as 12 weeks, off and on till 14, nothing till 16 and then lots for about 2-3 days and then nothing again until about 19 weeks. Now he's just beating the crap out of me at 32 weeks.
Because you have obviously had difficulties before I am sure that your doctor would see you about these concerns.
How far along were you when you lost your baby last time?
thanks for replies. It does help to know what is normal for other moms.
Jordyn, I lost my first son at 36 weeks last year. The one thing that concerned me before his death was decreased fetal movement for about a month. But he did still move, so I wasn't sure if it was a problem or not . My doc acted like it wasn't. Then they tell me he sufferend from oxygen deprivation over time in utero. But don't know why. I am still angry over it. The best thing I could do for my new little one was move away from that wretched town and hospital and now am seeing specialists and OB group with excellent reputation for maternal fetal medicine. They have been wonderful so far. I will definetly call monday if I still feel nothing all weekend. Though I threw up all day at work so that makes me think pregnancy is still going fine.
All 4 ultrasounds so far have been perfect. I just heard heartbeat last friday at OB and it was 155. My next US is on the 13th of April and I just don't know if I can wait! For me hearing a HB isn't all that reasurring because my first baby had a HB of 140 the day he died.
wEll thanks for listening. My books don't say much about early movement concerns.
