| Re: Obstetrician v. Gynocologist
There is a big difference -- some doctors are both an OB and a GYN, but some are only GYNs.
My regular gynecologist that I've been going to for many years DOES NOT HANDLE PREGNANCIES. He is not an obstetrician (he was a long time ago, but due to the malpractice insurance he got out of it).
As soon as I told him I was ready to start trying to have a baby, he referred me to an OB/GYN -- the one I choose was the one he shares an office suite with (different practices, though).
When I'm done having kids, or in between, I'll go back and see my GYN. Anytime I don't have to worry about pregnancy that's when I'll see him.
