Prometrium in early pregnancy
I've been reading contradicting views on Prometrium. The manufacturer's warning categorically states that it should not be used when you think you are pregnant or even suspect to be pregnant.

There are numerous websites on the internet which have similar thoughts. My nurse has prescribed Prometrium 200mg suppository to be used in the night everyday until 12 weeks. Today is Saturday and I am unable to talk to the nurse or any one else from my OBG's office.

THis was prescribed to me due to low progesterone. My progesterone was 16, I am about to complete 6 weeks.

If anyone has taken this, your views will be helpful.

I just did a little research for you since I'm totally unsure what brand of progesterone suppositories I was using. Prometrium was prescribed to both prepregnant women (trying to concieve) and those who were in the beginning weeks (like you). Do a search for prometrium and progesterone suppositories. You can even go to the "Infertility" board on this site for some info. You'll probably find what I did. That prometrium is prescribed to pregnant women with low progesterone.

Just so you know, I found that some people complained of some side effects: very sleepy and naseau. But both are normal for 1st trimester symptoms. Take the suppositories as prescribed and call your doctor if you begin to have any side effects.
