Black and Blue Cohosh

Has anyone used this with or without any effects? I heard it usually starts labor as soon as a few hours or up to 36. I may try this if I get any responses.

Also, does anyone know how I go about taking it? Just like eat it or boil it and drink the water? I have no idea.

Thanks in advance

Always,
Denise

Re: Black and Blue Cohosh

i hadn't heard about this so i went and did some searches and it does not seem like something that i would personally try. i found 1 negative thing that it could cause fetal heartattack.
there were actually some other things that i found and have actually tried with my last 2 that seemed to work. with my first i drank comino (cumin) tea.
i drank the night before and the next morning at 5am i went in to labor.
here is the directions i found online:

Cumin Seed Tea
1 T. cumin seed to one cup of boiling water, allow to steep for 5 minutes, then drink. No more than 1 cup an hour per day.

castor oil
with my 2nd i used castor oil. i think i read 3 tsp. i drank it the night before again and in the am i felt alot of preasure so i went in to get checked and i was dilated 4cm.

doing a search i found alot of useful information. i am 36weeks and plan on doing one of these when it gets closer to the time.
goodluck with everything,
robin

Re: Black and Blue Cohosh

You really should not use cohosh without your doctor's approval. It is a very strong herb and can endanger your baby. If your doctor is a medical doctor and would not be supportive of herbs of any kind I would at least talk to a naturopath that is very familiar with the details of your pregnancy.
