Has anyone ever tried this method and could they tell me if it worked and any other information on pineapple they can give me ?b/c i just bought a whole pineapple and im gunna try it out if it works ill be posting a follow up in about 3 or 4 days . thanks
I have no idea, but I imagine that it could if it contains prostaglandins of some sort, the hormones released by the hypothalamus and uterus to induce labor. This is why many people believe having sex can induce labor because sperm contain prostaglandins to make the uterus slightly contract so they have a greater chance of reaching the egg. (Kind of funny if you think about it- sex both initiating and ending pregnancy! lol!) Maybe research pineapple on the Internet to see if it has prostaglandins? Good luck!

Don't know about this but I've heard it helps soften the cervix. I just saw my midwife today and she sugggested evening primrose oil. Take one caplet, puncture a hole in it and insert it as high up into your vagina as you can. Be sure to wear a panty liner she says.
I'm starting tonight. I will start with stretching and stripping my membranes next week as well.
I honestly don't know if this is what did it but I ate an entire fresh pineapple at dinner and for a snack the night I went into labour! I think I was already good to go but maybe the pineapple kick started things!
I ate the last of it around 10pm on Wednesday, was contracting like crazy starting around 11 or 11:30pm and had Tanner by 12:04pm the next day!
I say give it a try, it can't hurt! And it tastes really good too!

I was taking Evening Primrose Oil to help get pregnant, but was told to stop taking it after you ovulate in case you do become pregnant, that it can cause miscarriage. Have you heard that this is safe at this stage of the our pregnancies??
Angie
Yes, my midwife suggests it at 36 weeks or so to help soften the cervix...likely why you should avoid at the start. I too took it to get pregnant and then gave what I had left to a friend to try...kicking myself yesterday as I dished out $12 to buy it again!!!!
i ate alot of fresh pineapple a but nothing has happened i ate it yesterday and have a doctors appointment today ill ask about the oil if im not dialated or anything i hope i have some kind of pregress.
Don't expect your doctor to know much about evening primrose oil as it is a more natural method of ripening the cervix...same goes for the pineapple and btw, I think it will take a few days/weeks to get it to work, doubt it works overnight.
Your doctor might be able to stretch and strip your cervix/membranes though, I'd ask about this.
i lived on pineapple as it was so juicy in the last 4 weeks of my pg, unfortunately i can't tell you if it worked as i had urgent c section at 36 weeks but it sure tasted good
I don't think that it is possible because I eat fresh pineapple everyday, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the things. So, if it did I would have went into labor a long time ago.
Thanks Jordyn regarding the EPO. I know what you mean, that stuff is not cheap. I have some left, and still have it. I'll give it a try in about 3 weeks.
Jordyn ~ One more thing. You mention your midwife suggests stuffin' it up your vagina (sorry tmi people) does it dissolve up in there??? or come out while going to the bathroom??? I'm a little uncomfortable stuffing something up there, how do you feel about doing that???
I've been doing it for 3 nights now. My caplets seemed smaller than the ones I took before so I thought last night, what the heck, let's put 2 up there. Big mistake as it was pretty messy!!!
It's no real big deal to insert it. Just put it in, go to bed and it stays up and dissolves. Until last night I could tell no difference in the morning or if I got up at night to pee. And hey, if it works, I'm all for it!!!
