Measuring @ 26 Only 24wks, Should I be worried?

I went for my monthly appt and doctor says Im measuring 2wks ahead which is kinda weird becuz I had my U/S last month and she was right on target so I guess the baby had a sudden growth spur or something. Basically all he said was that I mean a couple different things but that he is not worried about it at this point. Has this happened to anyone? What was the outcome?

I am almost 33 weeks and they said my baby was about 5 pounds and 9 ounces! The average would be 3 pounds 4 ounces, so in a way I am measuring big too.

My doctor didnt seem worried.

I've measured further along with all my pregnancies, but the most accurate is your first u/s if it's done around the 8-10 wk. mark. Everything after can be off by quite a bit, so they don't rely on it for your due date. Both my babies were on the slightly big side (9 lbs. and 8 lbs. 2 oz) and I delivered 1 wk. early with both, but I don't think it's anything to worry about unless you have gestational diabetes and then they may induce you earlier if the baby is getting too big. I wouldn't worry about it

Re: Measuring @ 26 Only 24wks, Should I be worried?

I go for a diabetes test my next appt. @ 28wks. Ive already had a diabetes test @ 18wks becuz it runs in the family and it came back negative so I hope this one does too. This is my second. My first is going on 8 and he came out 9lbs 4oz. but I think that was becuz I took the whole eating thing to a WHOLE new level. He made me hungry ALL the time and I craved sweets. This one is different. Well thanks for your comments I will just wait for my next appt. and see where shes at then.

Re: Measuring @ 26 Only 24wks, Should I be worried?

I was measuring way ahead too, I was measuring 26 weeks at my 22 week ultrasound! They said my big boy is in the 86th percentile. The OB recommended I take the one-hour glucose early, but it turns out I don't have gestational diabetes, just a big baby. I don't think its uncommon. I've also read that sonograms conducted earlier in the pregnancy are much more accurate that those conducted later in the pregnancy, so it doesn't necessarily mean the baby will be early or that the due date is off. Also, sometimes people think they should be induced early or have a scheduled c-section if their baby is big, normal question, but unless there is some compelling medical reason, this is not usually warranted. Women have big babies all the time.

Re: Measuring @ 26 Only 24wks, Should I be worried?

when I was pregnant with my son I was measuring three to four week ahead starting around 28ish weeks. We did an ultrasound and the baby was a normal size! We came to find out that it was how he was laying, sideways! He layed that way until 33 weeks. I wouldn't worry, sometimes the drs do measuring incorrectly.
