In 37th week and 2cm dilated/soft cervix

Hi Everyone,
I had an exam yesterday and my Doc told me that my cervix is soft and ready and I am at 2cm dilated. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything I can do to speed up the process. I am in my 37th week and Doc told me that I could go at anytime between now and 2 weeks from now. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

The thing that worked for me was when my OB stripped my membranes at 40 weeks. I was already 3 cm and 50% effaced, and I had DS less than 48 hours later. Best of luck!

walking might help. Also having sex. You can find tons of stuff if you do a search. Also you might ask at your next appt if your doctor would strip your membranes because that could definately help you along. Although it didnt work for me I know it helped me thin out and dialate more. Good luck, you dont have much longer!!

Re: In 37th week and 2cm dilated/soft cervix

Hi There, As one of the other posters had said, walking is a great idea as well as having sex. Should you decide to have sex, just be sure to lay there (preferably with your butt slightly elevated) for a little while allowing the ejaculate to stay in there. Ejaculate will often help to ripen the cervix and bring on labor. Prostaglandin Gel (a suppository used to ripen the cervix to prepare for induction) has some of the same properties in it as ejaculate. Often times when a woman presents in pre-term labor, 90% of the time she has had sex.

Another technique you could try is nipple stimulation. If you roll your nipples you will find that you most likely will start contracting. This technique is often used in labor and delivery to help bring on and aid in getting a regular contraction pattern established.

Hope you find the information helpful and best of luck to you and your little bundle of joy!
