I am currently 36 weeks and dh and I haven't had intercourse in awhile, we've been "supplementing." Anyhow the times we have had intercourse we haven't used a condom but I had read the other day that the later you are in pregnancy that you should use one b/c the cervix may be opening and the semen could cause infection but I've also heard that the semen could cause you to go into labor. So I guess I'm wondering, which one is it? Should we use a condom or not?

No condom. Unless you're on bedrest with a high-risk pregnancy, you should be able to go crazy in bed. That cozy mucus plug is protecting your baby from any infections.

well i did use one til i was about 35 weeks when i was ok for me to deliver so we had sex without oune its true sperm will make u go into labor well not right away but it does speed up the process and i have been told its not good to have sex withouht one before u are ready because u dotn want to go into labor when ur 26 weeks along i dotn know how to explain it hope u understand what im trying to say well best of wishes to u

What!? I've never heard of this. What did they do back in the days before condoms???? Sorry, but it doesn't make much sense.

ament...it was just confusion over a couple of different articles I read so I was wondering what everyone else had heard but you're right what would they have done!

Anyhow I asked my doctor at my appt. and she said that unless you are at risk at going into preterm labor that there is no need to abstain from sex and no need to use a condom. She did confirm that the progestrone (spelling?) hormone in semen can cause you to go into labor if all conditions are right.
