Hi! At 35 weeks, they did a swab to test for a certain kind of virus. The virus I guess is present in a lot of women (can't remember what the name of it was) and is harmless to us but could be bad for the baby during delivery. Anyway, it is no big deal if you have it, they just do an IV antibiotic during delivery. This is what my doctor told me. ANYWAY, then at 36 weeks no internal, but next week at 37 weeks they will do it every week until I deliver.
I go for my 35 week check up on Wednesday and it is called a group b strep test. I will have it done then also. I was told that they will start checking the following week (36 weeks). I think every physician is different. Im using a midwife so maybe that is why it is different.
I'm 37+ wks was just at the midwife on friday and I've never had an internal, this is my 3rd pregnancy and in the uk I don't think we get them till were in labour
I'm 32 weeks and I've had one at every single visit, but I've also had an u/s a every visit. I hope the insurance is covering this. I don't know why I always get one. I live in Germany. In the beginning I had some problems with the pregnancy, so maybe that's why she does it or maybe she's just trying to get all she can from the insurance. No idea. I guess it's different in every country. I thought it was 36 weeks in the States.
with both my babies the dr. did the Group B strep also called beta strep and checked me at 36 weeks. with my first i was a fingertip dialated and had him at 38 weeks (induced) and with my second i was 2 cm dialted and went into labor the next day. and i tested positive for beta strep so i recieved antibotics durring labor.
