i'm 21 weeks today and have noticed over the past few weeks that occasionally i will wake up in the middle of th enight and notice my outside of the hips are really sore and achy....today, they've ached all day.....what is this from?
Yup, it's just the pressure of the baby combined with the pressure of sleeping on your sides, combined with the fact that your hips are spreading to prepare for childbirth. I asked my doc about the same thing, and there's not much you can do, except switch sides when you wake up. I sleep with a body pillow that I stuff under my belly and then curve between my legs, that helps a little, and sometimes Tylenol helps as well. Other than that....just another one of those joys of pregnancy.
YES! YES! YES! I was just thinking how I have to post this same question. I get so uncomfortable at times too. Since I can't sleep on my back, I often take 3 pillows and prop them up against my bed and sleep sitting slightly upright. This helps a bit - and then I go back down to my sides during the night. It is like this all night for me - up and down.
I don't know if there is anything else that can help relieve this pressure.
yep i think those aches are a common thing. ive started getting these at maybe wk 21. i am 23.3wks now... its not fun. so far since ive been pregnant i havent taken one tylenol for anything but nice to know its safe if I eventually can't handle the pain.
