Are enema's safe during pregnancy? I took one this afternoon and didn't think twice about it until I was talking to my friend that just had a baby last week and she said enemas are not safe in pregnancy. Now of course I am freaking out worried if I have done something bad. I don't have any cramps or bleeding or anything.
What have you all done for the treatment of constipation other then the obvious - increase water intake, increase fiber, and exerise? Thanks!
i think it is fine. my dr. didn't tell me to, but a friends dr. told her to do an emena before comming in to be induced, to reduce the risk of pooping on the table. i guess it may depend on how far along you are, but if you are pretty far, i think it is ok. i would just ask the dr. before you did another one.
my dr. told me it was safe to take MOM when constipated.
Because I've had hemorrhoid surgery a few years ago, I always take a fiber tablet (I take the generic version of FiberCon) as well as a stool softener (I take the generic version of Colace) every day. One of each. It's just enough to keep things moving ok. My doctor has OK'd those two things, as has my perinatalogist.
