Pain in chest and ribs

Does anyone have pain in their chest when they breath in, move a certain way, or touch it? Is this normal? I have had this now for 12 hours. Can it be just how the baby is laying right now or something more serious? Thanks

Re: Pain in chest and ribs

I occasionally I get that (maybe once a year). When I get it, I think it's more or less a pulled muscle in the chest and for me, it's usually caused from sleeping in a weird position. I'm only newly pg with my first, so I don't know if it could also be related to pregnancy. If you're concerned, maybe go to a doctor.

Re: Pain in chest and ribs

I had that problem the other day. It burned and hurt when I took a breath. It really concerned me.. thought it was heart problems.. but it went away after a few hours and hasn't came back. When I took a deep breath I held onto my uterus and sorta push it down a bit.. it helped out a lot. I think it just has to do with the baby's position.

That's pretty common in late pregnancy, I've experienced a bit of that, too...once the baby drops, though, you should be fine....

Re: Pain in chest and ribs

i also get this often and last night I got thinking if it was heart related because of where it was hurting. It only seemed to be on my left side last night. But it stopped. I know rib pain is normal. I'm 25.5 wks. Its also my first pregnancy so I'm not sure whats normal.

Re: Pain in chest and ribs

I'm not sure what is normal either. I would like to see my doctor (can't on weekend) because the pain is so bad I can't lay down, let alone sleep. I can't breathe well either, unless I take very small breaths. When I try to lay down the pain is unbearable. It is very sharp. Today was the first time I experienced something like this at this level. I know it could just be the baby's position, but it is extremely painful and impossible for me to do anything. Maybe I can see someone tomorrow if it worsens.

Re: Pain in chest and ribs

I had that same exact thing. I could barely breath, it hurt SO bad. I wound up going into the ER but there was nothing they could do, it was just the way the baby was positioned. Nothing at all to worry about.
