They usually schedule c sections early so there is a slimmer chance that the woman will go into labor. When they plan a section, they want it to be something that you can go in, sit and talk about the procedure, etc. If a woman needs a section and goes in to labor, it then becomes a quick ordeal... I'm pretty sure they just want everything to go easier on everyone. And I've only heard of scheduling sections 38 and over.. Like previous poster said, 36 weeks is not full term.
I'm am scheduled to have a C-section exactly 1 week before my due date. so 39 weeks. He(the doctor) wants to do it then because he wants to decrease my chances of going into labor but he also wants the baby to have the best chance at being full term. Which is at 38 weeks. I don't know if that helped any but hope so love Jess
