I am now 5 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby .
the last 4 days I started having severe lower back pain , I am scared of Ectopic pregnancy , my Question is lower back pain a sign for ectopic ??I don't feel anything else , till now no vomiting, nausea , nothing only the lower back pain.
Thanks lot .
Ok, I just looked in "What to Expect When You're Expecting". Back pain is not a sign of an ectopic. Here's what my book says... "sharp, crampy pain with tenderness, usually in the lower abdomen. Brown vaginal spotting or light bleeding. Heavy bleeding, if the tube ruptures. Nausea and vomiting. Dizziness or weakness. Shoulder pain. Feeling of rectal pressure."
I hope that helps. If you're really concerned, call your dr. There's no reason for you to sit there and worry about it if you're dr. can tell you what's wrong.
I 2nd the Call your doctor suggestion rather than worry.
I was told that an ectopic feels like increasing pain on one side or the other, that gets worse and worse like appendictis until you're certain you need to go to the ER. The pain stops when the tube bursts, but then the bleeding may be all inside, so you again feel pain and it is dangerous, too. You cannot tough it out and get over it. You must go to the ER because it takes surgery to stop the bleeding.
Meanwhile, since it's summer, drink lots of water in case your pain is because your kidneys want water.
Thank you ladies .
I called the Dr , he said as soon as there are no lower abdomen pain and bleeding it is okay .
I went to my chiropractic and I am better today .
I think I will be worry, anxious till my OBG appointment, still 25 days , he insists to see me when I am 9 weeks , I can't wait !!
I hate to scare you but I had no pain at all other than an occasional pinching feeling on one side. I was about 7 weeks buy than. Eventually around my 8th week I started spotting for a week before the Doctor finally even considered to look for an ectopic. However my situation was very rare and most of the women get major pains when they have ectopics. Lower back pain can be a common sign of a normal pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about it unless you get major cramps and start bleeding or spotting for a long time. I would mention any concerns though to you Doctor because if it's not due to your pregnancy maybe it's something else like a uti or something. I guess those are more common during pregnancy than when you are not pregnant.
