Connor Harrison- Birth Story

Connor is here!

Our original due date was August 24th, but my doctor suggested induction due to high b/p. So we checked into the hospital on August 17th at 8:00pm, and started started Cervidil at 9:00pm. They gave me an Ambien at 11:30pm... but I managed to sleep for only 30 minutes. By morning we had progressed from high and closed to 1cm dialated and 45% effaced.

I was so exausted in the morning that I was practically screaming for a c-section. My doctor had pretty convinced me that my baby would be too big for my frame to be delivered vaginally. Guessing his weight at about 8 1/2-9 pounds. I thought both weights sounded fine.

At nine on Thursday morning I took a shower and started Pitocin at 10. Had my epidural in by 11... so I virtually felt no pain with the exception of "cramps." I progressed a steady 1 and a 1/2 cm's until I got to 7cm, and jumped from there to a 10 in 45 minutes. Had my epidural topped off and pushed for about 45 minutes. Didn't feel a thing. Connor Harrison was born on August 17th, 2006 at 7:25pm. 7lbs13oz's, 20 inches long. Dark hair, dark blue eyes, and no cone head in sight. Overall, with the exception of recovery, it was a great experience. Worthwhile and beyond rewarding.
