Unhappy Cramping so sever I can't walk? Anyone, anyone?

So here's the deal... I'm 27 weeks pregnant and for the last few weeks I have learned to live with cramping every day, all day. Sort of like period cramping that is constant. It's not Braxton Hicks since there is no ebb and flow to the pain. Sometimes in the evening I lie down and when getting up the pain is so severe that I have trouble walking. I don't know what this could be at all and my doctors aren't doing what I think they should be doing which is another level 2 ultrasound. I was told I have a small fibroid so I thought they would want to monitor it especially since I have so much pain.
I've tried to talk to my doctors but they just keep telling me this is normal because my uterus is stretching and everything. Does this sound normal to you pregnant ladies out there? I have a family history (aunts, grandma, etc..) that includes a few miscarriages and still born babies. I'm pretty livid that my doctors won't take this more seriously.

Re: Cramping so sever I can't walk? Anyone, anyone?

I know how you are feeling! I get these pains so bad I cannot walk. Ob told me the same exact thing tho. She said it was growing and stretching pains. I had a level 2 u/s done b/c of a calcium spot on our baby's heart. But they wouldn't just do one b/c you are having pain. I actually went and bought a "Maternity Belly Belt". It helps significantly. I was shopping at lowes with my husband and I started getting these pains so badly we had to leave so I could go lay down. I knew I would be needing something. I started getting these pains at about 20 wks along. As a matter of fact I went to the ER b/c of them, and they couldn't find anything. So, try to get a belt maybe and see if that works, and also do lunges on both sides, b/c that stretches out the muscles that are usually responisble for the pain. Then, try moist heat on the area of pain or pulling. Sorry I can not be any more helpful, but know that someone else is going through this with you. It drives me crazy all the time, and I always think something is wrong. Get some rest and take care!

Re: Cramping so sever I can't walk? Anyone, anyone?

Sounds normal to me, especially with the fibroid. I have a large fibroid (10 cm) and a smaller one (4 cm) that are outside the uterus. The perinatologist said to expect some pain from the fibroids, but I haven't really had any. He told me that I could take ibuprofen up through week 32 for pain. My OB also told me that during pregnancy the fibroids can get infarcted and die, which can cause a lot more pain. I don't know what they would be able to do if that happened, besides try to make you more comfortable. Ask your doctor about your fibroid and see if it might be the cause of your trouble. Otherwise, the stretching of the uterus and ligaments is pretty normal.

Thanks for the postings. It's so good to hear that other women have experienced this; after talking to four other moms who looked at me like I had two heads when I mentioned the pain.
I am going to try to relax more and hopefully that'll help.
I will talk to my doctor again too.
Maybe it'll go away if I get lucky...

And don't forget your good friend, Tylenol! Also, my perinatalogist told me I could take Ibuprofen up through week 32... you might ask your doctor about this...
