I have no idea what Braxton Hicks are supposed to feel like but I am have been having this weird cramping. For the past week I have been getting these cramping pains that feel like my period is going to come on. It is the weaker cramps that I would get before the bad cramping kicks in. It lasts for a little while and then goes away. What is this? I am about 36/37 weeks. With DS the Dr scheduled my c-section the day after my due date and DS hadn't even dropped or seemed anywhere near arriving so this is all new to me.

My braxton hicks did not give me any cramping or pain. My stomach would just really really hard for a minute and then it would go back to normal.

same with me. my belly turns into a really hard ball and it makes it a little uncomfortable to change positions while i'm having one, but then it goes away after 30 seconds or so. no pain, just slightly uncomfortable. i'm 34wks & i've been having these since 16 or 17 weeks

In my first pregnancy I had both Braxton-Hicks and real contractions for weeks before I delivered. The Braxton-Hicks were painless and as described by the ladies above. The real contractions hurt like cramps. I had two sets of those about 2 weeks prior (36 and 37 weeks) and almost went to the hospital both times. They stopped after about 2 hours and were 6 min apart but the pain didn't get worse as time passed like it did with real labour. As it turns out, DD came 10 days early. My water broke at 5:30 pm and I delivered at 11 pm. I'm pretty sure those earlier rounds of contractions contributed to my speedy delivery... Good luck with everything!
