So I went to the doctors yeaterday and I am measuring about 30cm and i am only 24 weeks pregnant. I am 6 weeks bigger then I should be. She wants me to come back in 2 weeks to see if I am still so big. When I got my ultrasound at 20 weeks I was only measuring a week ahead of schedule so my due date is right. She seemed worried but wouldnt tell me anything. She is having me do the diabetes test early, is this a sign of diabetes? has anyone else measured big or know anything about this?
I don't want to worry you, but measuring way bigger than your dates can indeed be indicative of gestational diabetes. Try not to worry too much though, as it sounds as though your doctors are very on the ball with it.
If it is the case that you have developed gestational diabetes, your doctors will keep a close eye on you and will be able keep it under control. It may not be that at all, but I suspect that is what your doctors are considering. GD should disappear when baby arrives, so you should not have any long term complications for you after the birth. Just go along with what the doctors want.. they will do what's best for you and your baby. It may just be the case that you will need closer montioring. I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine. Keep us posted.
I always measured big with both of my kids. With my 1st, I measured anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks ahead.........and with my 2nd, usually 4 to 6 weeks ahead. My kids were both decent sized babies (in the 9's) and I am a diabetic (pregnant or not), so it could be that..........or I'd imagine it could also have to do with the position of the baby.
