Hey guys, I had my appointment on Monday and they did not measure me but the doc told me that usually at 16 weeks the uterus is below the belly button, but mine is about an inch or more above my belly button. Does this mean I am measuring big? Does it mean I am further along than I thought I was? Just wondering if any of you had this experience before. Also, which week is your uterus suppose to be above your belly button? Thanks!
Hi. I am not sure which week it is actually supposed to move above your belly button, but is this your first pregnancy? If not, it could have something to do with that. Just a thought.
Yep, this is my first pregnancy. In the beginning we were wondering if I was further along than we thought. The doc also heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks which she said was unusual. So I guess I am just wondering if this might mean I am further along than I really am. But I have an ultra sound scheduled for the 27th! So I might just have to wait until then. But if anyone knows anything more, please let me know!
I'm 25 weeks and my uterus is measuring about 2 inches or a lil more above my belly button, and I'm measuring small. So could be that you're farther along than you thought. They'll be able to tell you at the ultrasound, they moved my due date up by about a week when I got mine done. So who knows, or maybe you've just got a big baby in there! haha I'm sure whichever it is, you'll be fine!
At 16w my uterus was 1-1/2" above my belly button but I am having twins. I was measuring 20w which is right on target for 2. Any chance you could have 2 in there??
Hi! Your uterus should measure above your belly button right around 20 weeks or so. It sounds like you are either measuring big, having twins or are farther along than you should be. If you are going by your LMP, that could be off, b/c some women have 1 period (or more) before they stop and find out they are preg. Your u/s will tell you how far along you are, but I am guessing around 20-22 weeks. I am 21 weeks, and my OB checked my uterus right above the belly button on Monday. Good luck! Your height makes a difference, too. If you're short (like me), you can look bigger than your dates just because the baby has no where to go but up and out! Is that perhaps true for you?
I always measure large. Last time the doctor did an extra ultrasound at around 14 weeks because my uterus looked closer to 20. He said he thought I was further along or having twins. It ended up that I was just measuring big, there was just one in there and he was right on schedule.
Today my OB had a little difficulty finding the heartbeat because it was a few inches higher up on my belly than it should be at 21 weeks. He looked at my chart and said well, it looks like you may just carry high.
Anyway I guess what I am trying to say is that it is possible for you to be further along, have more than one, or just to be measuring big. I wouldn't worry too much, and just enjoy it if it gives you an extra utrasound.
