Taylor David was born on May 23rd at 1:27 pm. He weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and was 18 inches long. I was not due until June 6th but my doctor induced me because my blood pressure was running a bit high. At 34 weeks, I was already dilated to 2 cm, 80% effaced, and contracting regularly. By the time I went in for my induction, I was 4 cm dilated. We went in at 6 in the morning and around 7:30, they started the pitocin. My doctor came in around 8:15 to break my water. I decided to go ahead and get my epidural since I was already dilated so much. It was a good thing, because by the time they got there around 9:00, I was already in a good amount of pain. After the epidural, I felt great. We had some family in the room and we were all talking and laughing. Around 11:30, we asked everyone to leave so that we could try and get some rest. Right after they left, I started feeling a huge amount of pressure and was in a great deal of pain. The nurse came in and checked me and I was at 6. They came and upped my epidural. I continued feeling all this pressure and the nurse checked me again at 12:15 and I was at 9. By 12:45, I was at 10 and ready to push. The doctor got there at 1:00 and Taylor was born at 1:27. I only pushed 6 times and felt no pain at all. I had a second degree tear but really have no had much discomfort from it at all. This was our first baby and already, I can't wait to have another one!
