Pregnancy and Ringworm.

I 'contracted' a case of ringworm about a year ago. It comes and goes as it pleases, nothing serious to me, just a funny looking rash usually on my bikini line that clears up when it pleases... but I've never been able to completely get rid of it to where it never comes back.. I just got it again, and I'm wondering... can my little boy get it (27wks)... and... if so, would it be a threat to him at all?

Re: Pregnancy and Ringworm.

seeing as that ringworm is a fungus that effects the skin, it will not hurt your baby. most ways to treat it are to be avoided during pregnancy though. however there may be something safe you can use. i would ask your ob what kind of topical treatment would be safe. don't forget to use gloves when using any ointments or creams to prevent further exposure to the rest of your body or others in your family! hope this helps!

Re: Pregnancy and Ringworm.

I got ringworm from the ER bed. I know, how gross! However, I treat it, I think it's gone & BAM, there it is! This is the third time it has come back. My doctor (GP not OB) said over the counter meds are ok. When again, it's on my shoulder.
So gross. I have never had it before in my life & I get it from the hospital. I guess it's better than getting Staf.
