Shouldn't you be able to feel the baby moving around at 5 months. There is a strong heartbeat but no movement. All tests have come back normal...what could be the problem? Thanks!
If this is your first pregnancy it may be really hard for you to feel fetal movement for a while. YOu may also be experiencing fetal movement, but not realize that is what it is. Also, I now you have probably heard this before, but all babies are different. You may just have a docile little angel in there. If the doc has done all the necessary tests and the heartbeat is alright then relax and enjoy the wonderful changes that are happening to you. Congratulations.
I'm 5 months and this is my fourth baby and I don't feel alot of movement. But my reason is because I have what is called an anterior placenta. This is where the placenta is in the front of my abdomen. Have you had your 20 week scan? Maybe you could ask your doctor about that possibility.
With my first I didnt' feel any movement until 22-24 wks, and even then it was soo rare. With second I noticed them earlier, around 18wks, but nothing regular until much much later.
So don't worry, enjoy, once you're further along you'll wish baby will stop kicking you in the ribs or bowel.
Thanks for all your responses...I was in a hurry when I typed this the other day so I need to explain that it's my best friends pregnancy and since I've never been pregnant I had no idea what to tell her. I'm usually on the cholesterol, weight loss and nutrition boards and found this one! Glad to know everyone here is so easy to talk to!! It's her 2nd pregnancy but this time she's all alone...boyfriend is not going to be involved at all (but that's probably a good thing) anyway, the 1st pregnancy (wonderful husband just didn't work out) she felt movement by this time and she's afraid to ask questions....errrr!! I told her she needed to but I don't feel it's my place to get involved too much except for writing on here for my own sanity. Thanks again!!
I've almost 23 wks and have not felt ANYTHING, all my tests are normal cept the umbilical cord is wrapped around my lil guy. He told me to jus wait it out and soon enough u will want him to stop hehe.
I think ur friend is fine... everyone is different, specially depending the size of the woman!
