Baby has small abdomen

I posted earlier about my lack of weight gain. Well due to that and measuring two weeks behind my doctor sent me to an ultrasound. I was 32 weeks4 days at the time of the ultrasound. My baby's head and legs were 33 weeks but her abdomen was only 30. My husband asked the technician if she would grow into her tummy. And the tech said once she was born and started eating she would. Does this mean she's not getting enough nutrients now? I haven't heard from my doctor yet but why would her abdomen be three weeks behind everything else? That seems drastic to me. My fluid levels were normal. Does anyone know what this means?

Re: Baby has small abdomen

The same exact scenerio happened to a freind of mine. She went back in for a follow up ultrasound a few weeks later, and the baby's abdomen was measuring normal. There are so many factors that play into reading an ultrasound, and so many things that could play into how your baby grows/is shaped (like genetics). She could just have a small abdomen, because that is how she is built. I hope that helps!

Re: Baby has small abdomen

My babys belly was a little bigger than normal......the doc said it's mostly genetics. It doesn't really mean anything. Don't worry!

Re: Baby has small abdomen

when i had an ultrasound with ds his belly measured 3 weeks ahead of the rest of his belly, but when he was born he was perfectly fine. and his belly looked no bigger/smaller than what it should have been. my guess is if the dr's arnt worried then everything is normal. i know its hard not to panic over things like this but i hope this helps a little
