Regular Braxton Hicks: A sign?

Hi there

I am nearly 35 weeks and for the last 3 days I seem to have been getting a lot of B.Hicks (strong tightening of my stomach and then it relaxes after 20 to 30 seconds each time) . Every hour, sometimes a few times an hour. Also, baby keeps moving much more. I am sure everything is ok but does anyone know if this is a sign that labour is around the corner or just a normal stage in the final weeks.

Thanks

Re: Regular Braxton Hicks: A sign?

As long as you are getting less than 4 in one hour, and they are not coming at regular intervals, then it should be fine. Increased Braxton Hicks are a sign though that you are getting closer I have been getting tons of them for the last several weeks, and I am currently 38weeks 4days pregnant. Try drinking more water, as I've found that helps ease them.

Re: Regular Braxton Hicks: A sign?

Megss, you are getting really close I will be watching the boards!

Thanks, for your input. I quite like getting the B.hicks. They say they are actually quite useful for later during the real thing. They do tend to stop me in my tracks though - not painful, just make me freeze.

Re: Regular Braxton Hicks: A sign?

Oh yes they stop me in my tracks too! Especially because of the pressure on my cervix that I feel with them! But yes they are a good thing...they are practice contractions and also help push the baby down into your pelvis

Re: Regular Braxton Hicks: A sign?

When I was pg with my dd, I got braxton hicks from about week 25 to week 40. I would get them a couple of times a day...especially after walking fast, taking a flight of stairs, or getting too excited. For me, they had nothing to do with labor or the onset of it. I had them all the time!
