For those of you with more than one baby... I've had several people say to me that your second child is usually born earlier than your first. I'm wondering if this has any truth or if it's just an old wives tale? My first was born on his exact due date... wondering if this one might come earlier?
Well, you're a statistic!!! Babies are barely EVER born on their due date!! I've never heard that they come earlier, but I have heard several times, that with your second pregnancy that you show sooner!
alot of old wives tales are true for some but not for others, i had all the classic wives tale symptoms for my son, and for my daughter, but my daughter was born (1st) at 2 days past due date and my son who was 2nd was 8 days overdue
oh and i definately did show sooner with ds but most of that was just leftover baby weight from dd that i just couldnt hold in any longer haha!
edit just to add that some say that they labour isnt as long, is this what you mean? that is sometimes true also, dd i laboured for 24 hours but with ds it was only 2 hours

In my experience, my first child (DD) was 5 days late and with my second child (DS) I was 9 days late so neither of mine came on time (I obviously made them FAR too comfortable in there!) So for me, the answer was no! Good Luck 2 you and yours.
Well, in my case this was not true. My son was born six days late and my dd was born on her due date BUT that was because I was induced and only because she kept going to breech. The doctor didn't think she would have been on time. He was betting she would have been more than a week late.
Well, my first was on his due date too, and I'm waiting to see what happens with #2. I definitely showed sooner (and to this day look way bigger) than with #1, but that could be because I hadn't lost ANY baby weight in the five months in between...
Long story about my first... but with my second, I was 5cm but no contractions so I was induced at 38 weeks. With my third, I was stuck at 3cm and induced at 39 weeks. I guess that doens't help too much. I figured I couldn't have stayed 5 cm for too long, and with my 3rd, he showed NO signs of wanting to come out!
